Spindle renovation
The Spindle department at Rörick

Disassembly
The disassembly department is separated from the other process steps, as cleanliness is of great importance.
We use dedicated disassembly rigs to ensure efficient and safe work.

Grinding Room
In early 2025, we completed our grinding room, equipped with cylindrical grinding, internal grinding, and surface grinding.
Having our own grinding room on site allows us to reduce refurbishment lead times and maintain better control of the process.

Assembly
Assembly takes place in our “clean room,” where the temperature is constant and the level of airborne particles is lower than in the main workshop area.

Test Run
Test runs are carried out in our test rigs, where we can both lubricate and cool the spindle in the same way as in the customer’s application.
The spindle is run up to maximum RPM and is then balanced in accordance with ISO standards.
To ensure optimal performance and service life, a spindle overhaul undergoes a meticulous and structured process. From receipt and inspection to disassembly, cleaning and geometric analysis – every step is carried out with precision.
01
Reception & Identification
When the spider arrives at our premises, it is identified and registered in the system, where it is assigned a project number for traceability.
02
Inspection
We conduct a thorough inspection of the spindle and analyze its condition upon receipt to identify possible defects before disassembly.
- Throw control
- Stator check
- Encoder control
- Vibrationsanalys
- Checking clamping force
- Checking positioning sensors
- Leakage control
03
Dismantling
We completely disassemble the spindle, taking special care to avoid damage to the components. Each part is separated and identified.
We photograph and document everything and store the material digitally in our workshop system on the order for traceability.
04
Cleaning
We thoroughly clean all components to ensure they are in the best possible condition for the subsequent geometric inspection.
05
Geometric inspection
We perform dimensional and geometric inspection of all parts. The space for our measurements has a controlled and constant temperature to ensure accurate measurements.
06
Design & Manufacturing
We design and manufacture all components that can be repaired or replaced. The spindle department develops a plan for each specific repair job.
07
Report & Quote
We analyze all collected data and compile a report and a specific quote for the customer.
08
Assembly
After the customer has approved the quote, we plan the assembly in our "clean room".
Balancing of shaft before assembly.
09
Test drive / Run-in
We run in the spindle and continuously monitor the temperature of the bearings and motor as well as vibration values to ensure that it is functioning properly.
10
Balancing
We balance the spindle according to the highest level defined in the ISO-10816 standard.
11
Final inspection
We carry out a thorough analysis of all the values that affect the correct functioning and lifespan of the spindle. This is carried out by the same technicians who previously analyzed and dismantled the spindle.
12
Delivery
The spindle is packaged in corrosive protective plastic and in a stable transport box or pallet to protect it during transport. Reports are provided as agreed.
